for when the audio is in English

An English to Spanish voice translator for live audio.

Verli is an English to Spanish voice translator for long audio on a computer: it listens to English from a browser tab, your computer's sound or your microphone and writes the Spanish under each line as people speak. It runs in your browser and in the Mac and Windows apps, and one session also turns any Spanish reply into English.

How to translate English audio to Spanish

1.

Set English and Spanish

In Choose Languages, set Language 1 to English and Language 2 to Spanish. Verli detects which of the two each person is speaking. You never press a button to switch direction.

2.

Pick where the English comes from

Microphone is on at the start, which fits a speaker in the room with you. For audio playing on your computer, open Audio source and turn on Desktop audio. In the web app, pick the Chrome tab that plays the class, webinar or video, then turn on Share audio and click Share. The Mac and Windows apps hear all the sound your computer plays, including the Zoom and Teams apps. On Windows, pick any screen when asked. On calls, wear headphones so your microphone does not pick up the other side.

3.

Read the Spanish as people speak

Start recording. Each English line appears with a timestamp and its Spanish translation right under it. For example, “Open your books to chapter four” shows up with “Abran sus libros en el capítulo cuatro” below it. Minutes run for as long as recording is on, even through silence. Stop recording when the class or call is over.

English to Spanish live captions, both ways

One session for both directions

When someone answers in Spanish, Verli writes the English under that line. A bilingual class, family call or mixed team meeting runs in one session.

A live link for Spanish-speaking listeners

On Standard or Premium, start recording, click Share transcript, then Copy share link and send it. Listeners open it in a browser on their own phone or laptop, with no account. They can show only the Spanish and make the text bigger. Shared data is deleted after 24 hours.

Your own names and terms

Click Assistant to open the AI Assistant panel, then turn on Knowledge base. Add names and acronyms under Words to recognize, and fixed Spanish terms under Preferred translations. Save it as a preset for the next class or meeting. Set it up before you start, because changes apply to the next recording.

Hear the Spanish as well as read it

On Standard or Premium, the Mac and Windows apps have Read aloud, which speaks each Spanish line in a voice you pick. The voice plays only on your own speakers or headphones. Verli never joins a call or speaks into it, so the people on the call hear only the original speaker.

When live Spanish translation from Verli fits, and when it does not

Many people who search for an English to Spanish voice translator want to say a phrase into a phone and hear it back in Spanish. For that, a phone translation app such as Google Translate is the better tool. Verli runs on a computer, and phone apps are coming soon. It is for following English you cannot pause, for an hour or more. That covers students in classes taught in English, workers on English calls, people in English trainings and webinars, and anyone watching a long English video.

Verli also serves English speakers with a Spanish-speaking audience. You might lead a team, a church service or a family call where some people read Spanish better than they follow spoken English. Run Verli on your laptop with the microphone near you. Then send them a share link, which needs a Standard or Premium plan. They read the English and the Spanish on their own screens. Verli is not a sound system or a pair of translator earbuds, so it cannot play spoken Spanish to a whole room.

Size your plan before the term starts. The free plan gives 60 minutes upon sign-up with no credit card, about one hour-long class. Prices are in US dollars. Standard costs $7.99 per month for 10 hours. Premium costs $19.99 per month for the same 10 hours, plus more natural voice translation. Three one-hour classes a week come to about 13 hours a month, which is more than one plan holds. Members can add 5 or 10 hour packs. Recording stops when your minutes run out, so check your balance before a long day and stop recording during breaks.

Live machine translation is fast, and it makes mistakes. Names, strong accents, jargon and people talking over each other can trip it up. Speech in a language other than English or Spanish may be left untranslated. Double-check numbers, names, dates and anything important, and do not rely on it for medical, legal or immigration decisions. Where the law, your employer or the venue requires it, get consent before you transcribe other people.

Verli writes translated text. It does not dub a video, copy a voice or export a Spanish audio file. A dubbing tool fits that job. To read a recording in Spanish, play it on your computer while Verli records, or try the free audio translator on the first three minutes of a file.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a voice app that translates English to Spanish?

Yes, on a computer. Verli listens to English from a browser tab, your computer's sound or your microphone and writes the Spanish under each line, in the web app and the Mac and Windows apps. For a quick phrase spoken into your phone, a phone app such as Google Translate fits better today, and Verli phone apps are coming soon.

Can I translate live audio from English to Spanish?

Yes. Verli works as an English to Spanish speech translator for live audio. Turn on Desktop audio under Audio source. In the web app, share the browser tab that plays the audio and turn on Share audio. Desktop audio works best in Chrome, and the microphone works in any modern browser. The Mac app needs macOS 14.2 or later, and the Windows app needs 64-bit Windows 10 version 2004 or later. Both hear all the sound your computer plays, including the Zoom and Teams apps.

Is there a free real-time English to Spanish translator?

Yes, with limits. Verli gives you 60 minutes of live translation upon sign-up, with no credit card. The free Live Voice Translator also translates up to three minutes of microphone speech without signing in. When your 60 minutes run out, Standard adds 10 hours a month for $7.99.

Can Google Translate translate my voice to Spanish?

Yes. The Google Translate app can listen on your phone and translate what you say. Verli works on a computer instead: it hears the sound your computer plays or what your microphone picks up, keeps each English line with its Spanish translation on screen, and saves the session to History while Save meeting transcripts is on.

Do I get Latin American or Spain Spanish?

Verli has one Spanish option, with no setting for a regional variety. To steer a word, such as computadora instead of ordenador, click Assistant, turn on Knowledge base and add it under Preferred translations.

Can the other person see the Spanish translation?

Only if you send them a live share link, which comes with Standard and Premium. They need no account and see the English and Spanish as you speak, or only the Spanish if they choose. Without a link, the translation stays on your screen.

How do I translate an English audio file to Spanish?

Turn on Desktop audio and play the file on your computer while Verli records. The Spanish appears as it plays, and the playback time counts toward your minutes. For a quick test, the free audio translator handles the first three minutes of two files a day. Verli does not make a dubbed Spanish audio file.
